Going to Babbo tonight---Advice?

Aaron | May 18, 2006 12:24 PM

Okay, so tonight I'm going to Babbo for the first time with a large party---total of 6 of us. We've already decided that we are skipping the tasting menu as there are enough of us that we can just order things and share them and then we wont miss out on some really good dishes.

So the question is, what/how much to order. First--how much food? There are 2 bigger eaters in the party, 3 average eaters, and 1 small eater (grandma). Anyway I was leaning towards 2-3 apps, 6-7 pastas and 2-3 entrees. Enough food? Too much? Opinions?

Second question is, what to order. I already know, of course, about the lambs tounge app, the beef cheek ravioli, the black spaghetti, and the lobster/pasta dish. Also possibile is the gnochi w/oxtail and the mint love letters. I'm considering doubling up on a couple of the pastas (ordering 2, particularly black spaghetti as I'm fairly certain everyone will enjoy that dish) what do you think? What other pastas and apps should we order?

And finally, what mains? The Hen I've read is good. Other cant miss dishes?

Oh, and if anyone has a particularly strong desert opinion that would be useful also.

So yes, this is just another "what to order at Babbo" postI've searched the sight for about 20 min and got all sorts of info, but if anyone wants to help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
