I work with an Asia travel company that just opened an office near the 405/Torrance, staffed by 3 great Australian women with a passion for Asian food. If you've ever met Aussies, they are the best hosts to travelers, so I hope we Angelinos can embody the same spirit and show them L.A.'s hidden treasures.
Since they are still learning to drive on the right hand side of the road and L.A.'s size is intimidating to newcomers, I'd like to point them to places that are somewhat close to their location. For example, it seems to most on here agree that the best Chinese in the region is found in the SGV... but that might be a bit too far for them right now. Better to suggest a somewhat great place, closer to their local.
I'm looking for a round-up of places easy for them to visit. For example, pointing them down the 405 to Little Saigon is perfect and easy. As for cuisine, they desire anything Asian/Pacific, from Indonesia to India, Tibet to Thailand. Suggestions?
One note: Since many smaller (and great) Asian eateries are not often found on mainstream websites (or have challenging names), please provide as much contact info/directions as possible. I learned this last year when trying to find good Cambodian eats... there are some great places here, but one couldn't find any of them listed by news sites, local guides, indexes, etc.
Thanks! I'll compile a summary and repost the results in a single compilation so that those interested, and those who reply can enjoy the shared knowledge.
