As I recover from my sugar high, I thought I'd recount my cupcake purchase from Auntie Em's in Eagle Rock.
Picked up the Coconut and Red Velvet Cupcakes. A full muffin sized cupcake, the coconut was moist, full of coconut baked into the cupcake, and topped with coconut cream cheese (i believe) frosting that was not too cheesy nor too sweet. So moist, my worries of a large cupcake being dry were vanquished. Next up, the Red Velvet. The cupcake was dense, moist and perfectly matched to the cream cheese frosting.
My only other previous experience is with Joan's; comparably, Joan's cupcakes were smaller and overly sweetened, though prettier, but not worth the parking/line hassle on 3rd St., esp. as I live on the east side.
I'm a convert! Yay for Auntie Em's! Will have to try the chocolate ganache next!
