I'm a New Yorker who's been visiting my Scottsdale-based dad twice a year for the last ten years, and on each trip, he takes me out to several restaurants I haven't been to before. Tonight, we went to what I think is the best one of all: Atlas Bistro, on N. Scottsdale Road
This innocuous little BYOB place-- tucked in the back of a wine store-- has some of the tastiest and most creative cooking I've experienced anywhere, and serves any three courses of it for just $39. This caliber of cooking in New York-- albeit with a bit more atmosphere-- would be at least twice that price, and as it wouldn't be BYOB, you'd also spend twice as much on your wine. I understand that the chef here-- while under the supervision of someone more experienced-- is a gal who's just 20 years old, and has pretty much created their latest menu entirely on her own.
I did a quick search of this board and didn't find any posts about this place since one mention back in 2004. Have any of you folks been there?
