Atlanta ingredient sources--recon visit help

I am going to be moving to Western North Carolina in the near future from the DC area. Atlanta is the closest really big city (2 hours drive) and I assume I'll be going there from time-to-time to stock up on necessities I can't get at the local Ingles and other such places. I'm totally unfamiliar with the town, most of my visits there having been to change planes back in the Eastern Airlines days.

I will have the opportunity to pay the town a short visit fairly soon (picking up my sweetie at the airport), and would like to scope out the food and equipment places a chowhound who tries to cook well should know about, especially local places (not national chains like Whole Foods, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc.) I will only have several hours on this occasion, say from about 4pm to 9pm. What would anyone recommend I have a look at? I'm particularly interested in good meats and dairy products, produce, spices, ethnic (asian and latin) ingredients, deli, good equipment, etc.

Given my geographical situation, I'd be particularly interested in places in a North East direction from downtown

Many thanks in advance.
