Arroyo Chop House - my experience

Friday night we went to the Arroyo Chop House in Pasadena, wonderful wine list, had a Shafer Merlot. Two things that stuck in my head were comments by other chow's, one said that they bring you 1/2 garlic bread & 1/2 sourdough without asking & charge you for it. That was not what happened to us, the first asked if we would like bottled water or not, sparkling or not and then if we would like their sourdough bread, sourdough & garlic bread or just garlic bread, we opted for the sourdough. The way she said it to us was that there was an impression in our minds that they would charge for the garlic, pleased with how this was handled.
We ordered, petite filet for my friend, I opted for the Ahi with the ginger & wasabi sauce, asparagus & garlic mashed potatoes. All of it was WONDERFUL! The sauce that comes with the Ahi was just perfect, the sides were also perfect & my friend enjoyed her steak very much! She also opted to try the cab reduction with bleu cheese and was in heaven.
The other thing I kept in mind from the responses from Chow's was that the chocolate souflee was not worth ordering, so we didn't, but, both tables on either side of us had ordered them, the smell was out of this world and i am NOT a chocolate fan. So, we ordered it WITH grand manier on the top, it was very, very good. Not too rich or too chocolaty.
All in all it was a wonderful eating experience!
