Hello Fellow Chowhounders,
New Year Greetings!!
Early last November, a Cantonese Cuisine Chowmeet was held at Scarborough's Maple Yip Seafood Restaurant. The meal was pre-arranged, featuring many off-menu house specialties. Responses were so positive that an additional second sitting was needed to accommodate missed-out and 'salivating' late participants. Based on subsequent feed backs from attendees, the event was a huge success!
Towards the end of both gatherings, requests for a similar follow-up chowmeet, after the new year, were directed at me. As always, I am more than happy to obliged and as such, have put forward this Clarion Call for another proposed chowmeet:
Chowmeet Theme: "GIANT LOBSTERS (at least 16 lbs+) 5 WAYS + More.......!!"
- Steamed claws with fried minced garlic, Chinese wine on rice vermicelli.
- Stirred fry tails with onion and secret House-specialty Maggi based Sauce.
- Deep fry head and body with chili and spiced pepper salt.
- Steamed egg custard ( Chawanmushi ) with tamale.
- Fried rice with egg white, shredded dried scallops, diced Gai-Lan and
Plus a number of other house specialties, including one of GTA's best
and most authentic Cantonese 'Sweet & Sour Pork', and complimentary
Place: O' Mei Seafood Chinese Restaurant, 420 Hwy#7 East, Richmond Hill. (Hwy #7 &
Time: 7.00 pm. Tuesday, 5 February, 2013
Price: Will be dependent on the market price of the lobster. But 'all-inclusive' price ( food, tax & tips ) per person will be in the same ballpark as the Maple Yip Chowmeet.
As before, I will confirm at least one week ahead.
Once again, to ensure quality, I am limiting the event to two tables per sitting, with 12 participants per round table. Furthermore, I am anticipating this meet will be a really hot seller! Therefore, as before, availability will be based upon first come first serve basis. Also, since this is an exclusive 'chowhound event', to be fair, restriction will be limited to chowhounders and their spouses, BF/GF and/or close family members only.
If due to unprecedented responses, there are over-spill and zero first sitting vacancy, please do not be disparaged! I will be planning a second sitting around the end of February ( after the Chinese New Year Rush ) to accommodate 'miss-out' chowhounders.
Once again, please do not respond to this posting. Instead, please kindly communicate with me direct through my e-mail ( see my profile ). Please also provide your 'handle' in your communication. Thanks!
