Anniversary weekend dining advice

We'll be in San Francisco next Thursday, Friday & Saturday night for an anniversary weekend. We're staying in Union Square and are on foot or using public transpo. Haven't been to SF many times and when we were there we didn't have a chance to do much exploring, chow-wise.

Not into the trendy "beautiful people" kind of scene. Prefer a cozy, casual place where the two of us can enjoy copious amounts of wine and/or good cocktails and tasty food - mainly looking for fresh seafood and vegetarian cuisine - partial to Italian/Mediterranean but are open to anything.

On Friday, we're hoping to meet up with some friends (about 6 or 7 of us) somewhere casual & fun, not too spendy, that serves good drinks & has decent food. Nothing fancy.

We haven't given lunch for Friday and Saturday much thought - during the day we can hop the BART or streetcar and go a little further out of the core area.

Looking forward to our visit!
