I'm a non-NJ resident looking for a special restaurant in Bergen County to take my parents to for their anniversary, on this Sunday, Father's Day.
I'd love something like the Charthouse, which I can't take them to becuase they've already been to it. And well-meaning people keep recommending restaurants in malls to me, but I'd like something that has a little more of a "found treasure" feeling to it. I'd like to take them someplace beautiful, that has good food (doesn't have to be spectacular), and has good service. Money isn't a problem.
Also, my dad doesn't have a very adventurous palate, and gets scared of a lot of kinds of food. For example, sushi and Indian food are terrifying for him. He is a wonderful man in many, many other ways.
I'm sorry to be so needy--I grew up here, but have lived my adult life elsewhere, so while I know Jersey is fabulous, I also know it requires an local to show you the secret fabulousness, and I'm not a local anymore. And I can't ask my parents, because it's their surprise.
