My wife and I will be down from Milwaukee for a two night stay at the Hotel Amalfi. We're in search of:
Saturday: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Sunday morning we'll be doing Mexican on Maxwell Street.
We lived in Chicago for five years during the nineties, so we're familiar with it and not adverse to finding out-of-the-way places. Closer to downtown or easily accessible by train would be preferable, though.
Atmosphere and service are important, but taste trumps all. We're not into seafood (except in New Orleans) and we're waiting until Sunday for Mexican. Not interested in Chicago-style places (deep dish, Italian beef, etc.) either. We love little bistros in charming but not-too-trendy neighborhoods. $20-30 for an entree would be our max, but we'd increase if the taste increased proportionately.
Any help you Chicago Chowhounders can give will be much obliged! If you have questions about your neighbor to the north, feel free!
PS: Is Blind Faith Cafe in Evanston still lovely? Has better Thai than Siam Noodle and Rice emerged?
