Anniversary Dinner

I am a regular poster, but I need to stay anonymous for this one. Four months ago a follow-up scan found mets from my breast cancer. Statistically, this doesn't give me an endless amount of time. The rough part is I could hang here for 2 years, or I could manage 10. Though I know what will do me in, I still don't have an expiration date.

However, my husband and I have decided not to wait to do some of the things that make us happy, while acknowledging that this recession has really hit our wallets.

We are going to take a trip to NYC in the Fall and spend an evening at the Metropolitan Opera House, letting the sounds of voices mixed with one of the best orchestras in the world surround us. I also want to try to go to some of the restaurants I have read about here on chowhound to mark special ocassions.

In two weeks, my husband and I will have been married for 28 years. I would like to celebrate this evening having some wonderful and creative food. To be honest, I don't want to eat somewhere that makes meals that I can make at home. I am a fairly accomplished home cook. We are also restricted by budget and gosh, I am in my late 40's, I don't want stuffy! So, I know the budget is an essential thing... we don't do mixed drinks but would love to have a nice bottle of wine with dinner. Can we keep this under $150 for both of us?

Places we haven't been but sound interesting include:

Craigie's on Main Street
Brassier Jo

We live on the Cambridge side of the river, but will travel into Boston via the T at a moment's notice.

Please help me find the perfect way to celebrate this special day.
