Finally made it to Angelo's, the relatively new pizza place that is part of the Patsy's/Nick's axis, and the only midtown coal-oven pizza in existence.
Wow. It was absolutely terrific, a thin-crust pizza assertively seasoned with fabulous sausage. To my taste, this was vastly superior to, say, any branch of John's, and I preferred it (this time anyway) to Patsy Grimaldi's.
Another big plus is that the house salad is more than an afterthought, and the individual portion is enough for two to share.
Angelo's is located directly across from the street from the Director's Guild Theater, on 57th St. between Sixth and Seventh (closer to Sixth) on the north side of the street, and is open from noon until 11:00 on weeknights, until midnight on weekends.
