All-American Diner I & II

Some time ago I wrote about the hot food truck outside One State Street Plaza, at the corner of Water and Whitehall Streets. I think it's called "All-American Diner I & II". Since then, someone else praised their chicken parm hero. I headed over there today to pick one up, but they were out of the sauce so I settled for the special of the day, steak, onions and peppers.

Unfortunately, the guy before me got the last hero roll, so I had to get it on rye, leading to a soggy sandwich. But that was the only disappointment with the sandwich. I feared it would be a Steak-Ums type sandwich with dried out, thin onions. Instead, it was delicious chunks of steak (not sure what cut), pink-to-red on the inside for a nice outside crust (juicy enough, but not fatty or gristly at all). The onions were cut about one-half inch thick as were the peppers and had a little bit of crispiness to them. It came with a pickle, for $6.50. It certainly would have been better on a hero, but as it was, I enjoyed it and would have it again.
