Restaurants & Bars

Amelia Island vs. St. Augustine

rebecca.kukla | May 26, 2008 08:44 AM

My husband and I are looking for a place for a foodie anniversary overnight trip within a couple of hours of Gainesville, where we are dropping off our kid at camp. (WAHOO! Three cheers for kids turning 7 and finally being old enough to go to residential camp for a few days.)

We have more or less narrowed it down to eating at Salt on Amelia Island or at Opus 39 in St. Augustine.

Is there anyone who has eaten at both restaurants and can tell me which is better? Or should we be eating somewhere else altogether? And in general, is one location better/more picturesque/yummier than the other? Or again, should we be going somewhere else altogether? (Just don't send me two hours back in the direction of Tampa, where we live anyhow - the point is to go somewhere else in Florida that we have not explored.)

THANKS for any input!
