Amazing Fries in DUMBO

My boyfriend and I made a last minute trip to DUMBO last night, taking a nice stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge and thinking that we might actually be up for waiting in line for Grimaldi's.

Well, we weren't. So we walked around the corner to a dive-ish bar that the b'friend used to go to when he lived in Vinegar Hill, Between the Bridges. On recommendation by the bartender we ordered spicy cheese fries...and WOW.

The food is made next store in Anaseed, the restaurant which is attached to the bar. I don't know what was in the fries, I asked but no one would tell me. They were not at all greasy, but they had a slight taste of butter or something similar. They were potato-y without being dry and the cheese was real cheddar.

We also order chicken fingers which were pretty good, but now after the fries, we can't wait until next week to try the rest of Anaseed's soul food menu.
