I'd love to see some comments from fellow hounders about these places, and any others.

It was family weekend at Muhlenberg, so here's what we learned.

Try the steaks at Federal Grill, downtown. Dining room is upstairs. Comfortable. Very professional service. Steaks are well cut and flavored; often covered with an unusually prepared onions.

Good local Italian at Bellisimo, although very high noise level. White table cloth. Woodburning ovens for the pizza.

Pistachio on Cedar Crest Blvd. has a huge, varied menu, surprisingly good if you don't mind eating in a shopping center and not looking at the nearby Fridays.

For breakfast and lunch, the Philosopher's Stone, downtown at 9th and Hamilton, has good breakfast and surprisingly unusual lunch. It's a diner, coffee shop, delicatessen, and card store. Go figure.
