Alice's Tea Cup

Located on 73rd Street, just west of columbus, this little restaurant is MUCH more than a tea shop.

(Note: FULL DISCLOSURE - My friend Julie is the chef. But I am a long time Chowhound poster and wouldn't risk my rep flacking for this)

It's a great little place, whimsically decorated with an encyclopedic selection of teas (for drinking in or taking out) and a full menu of salads, sandwiches and sweets.

The scones and other sweets are to-die-for. The salads are scrumptious. The sandwiches are inventive and yummy. (I know I did those out of order, but I'm the kind of guy who likes to eat dessert before dinner).

Definitely NOT the average tea shop fare for dainty old ladies. I wouldn't allow myself to be caught dead eating "finger sandwiches" with the crusts cut off. And that's not what you'll find here.

Even for non-tea drinkers, this is a great little find. It just opened a week ago, so hurry!!!!

Check it out!!!
