My Dad is turning 65 this year and he has always loved fine French and Mediterranean food. His birthday is coming up in a little over a month and I was gearing up to swoop in on the one-month-before date and make a reservation at Alain Ducasse, as he's always wanted to go there but has never really had the energy to deal with making a reservation so far in advance.
My question is - is it really as fantastic as someone who has never been there might imagine? I'm not concerned with price, or even value. But do you think more likely than not, he will be blown away? I want to make this really special and will be so very disappointed if it turns out to be overrated.
He would definitely stick to meat or fish, and not a tasting menu.
Also, does AD give you a table for the night once you make the reservation, or am I confusing it with a different restaurant?
Thank you so much for the input!
