Tried it out last night...After the NYTimes 2 star review, I had to give it a shot. I ordered the ocean trout tartar app. whilst my date had a smoked jerulelem artichoke soup with seared scallops. Mine was good, but it needed some sort of bread to go along with it---the rolls they gave were hard enough to chip tooth. Scallop soup was tasty, but pretentious...scalloops are in the bowl, mostly unadorned then waitron comes in with a server and pours soup on...reminded me too much of gravy when he did it (soup's colour didn't help) and, judging how long our took to be served (1/2 hour between courses) they could have easily skipped the step and given the dishwasher a break..
Date had chix 2 ways- poached and seared...in lobster reduction sauce...both chix were amazingly seasoned....i was really suprised...surprised, number one that my date ordered chicken -CHICKEN!- and second, that it was so juicy...they must have brined it...reduction was tasty as well.
I had the pork chop, blue cheese gnocci, black kale and paprika sauce...chop was over seasoned...i only say this because no one seems to ever overseason...i usually addd salt...not here...slightly overcooked..gnocci were outstanding as was the kale..
Dinner with 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 glasses spanish wine=$103...pricey if you ask me....ambiance was annoyingly hip but I come to expect that from that area...Not a romatic date kinda place, but instead, a joint you want to go to with all yer foodie girlfriends.
