Spending four days and three nights in Edmonton for business next week -- two dinners are open for 3-6 of us to pick on our own (the third is a group event at King and I Thai -- any recs/favorites there?)
I'm staying on Whyte Ave at Meterra Hotel -- with a rental car.
Preferences include indigenous, local food (would that mean "Alberta beef", for instance -- if so, where's the best specimen?), creative preparations, seasonal menus/specialties, as well as expert classic-inspired cocktails and/or local brews.
Budget is not a primary driver, and not really looking for the 5-star dining experiences unless it's also happens to be the best chowish food option (I have been known to supplement my business per diem when necessary -- e.g., Beckta in Ottawa).
Coming from Boston, so I'm reasonably well-covered for seafood and many ethnic food types.
Will you please recommend any local favorites, as well as any other tips for this first visit there? Free time will be mostly limited to dinner and early mornings.
