Where to Get Your Soda-Making Supplies

The relatively inexpensive, easy-to-use SodaStream has turned a lot of Chowhounds into soda-makers. If you're among the converted, here are some expert-level tips.

You can pick up a unit at the Boston Shaker or KitchenWares. The SodaStream flavors kinda stink though; nickls has had some luck using vodka to make flavored extracts like pomegranate and raspberry-lime: "The flavor is subtle when using small amounts so as not to make an (appreciably) alcoholic drink, but definitely better than flavored Poland Springs or Polar." Kip McSkipster lays claim to a raspberry-lime rickey made with syrup from Bazaar.

Bitters are another option for improving on SodaStream's flavors; Boston Shaker is a good source for intriguing bitters.
