You Don't Need Extra Ingredients To Upgrade Canned Tomatoes

While canned tomatoes are technically cooked and ready to use, you can improve them by heating them to the point of caramelization for a richer and more complex flavor profile.
Removing excess water and developing the fruit’s natural sugars will leave you with sweeter tomatoes and a better-tasting meal. There are a couple of ways you can achieve this.
You can strain the tomatoes, set their juice aside, and expose them to direct heat on the stove. As the water inside the fruit evaporates, the flavor will become more concentrated.
Alternatively, for a slightly slower option, caramelize your tomatoes by roasting them in the oven. Either method is a surefire way to heighten the flavors of your final dish.
