With certain produce, frozen varieties are better than fresh. Blueberries are one such fruit that excels in frozen form, as they are convenient,
cost-effective, and nutritious.
Frozen blueberries are harvested during peak ripeness and frozen within a few hours of harvesting. This means frozen blueberries retain freshness and nutrients.
On the contrary, fresh berries are picked, then transported across long distances before being sold, making them not as "fresh" as one would assume.
A 2015 study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry showed that frozen blueberries one-up fresh blueberries with elevated levels of vitamin C and vitamin E.
As well as being nutrient-rich, they require no washing or sorting. Plus they shine in countless culinary applications, including smoothies, baked goods, jam, and dressings.
