While Kirkland ribeyes are premium cuts, there is one caveat for shoppers. Some of Kirkland's ribeyes may be missing a tasty, favorable portion known as the ribeye cap.

Ribeye steaks typically consist of the eye and the ribeye cap, a smaller section located at the crown of the steak, which is a desirable cut due to its high amount of marbling.

A Reddit user posted that Costco seems to be removing the caps and selling them separately while selling the remaining steaks at full price.

The post also shows an image of packaged Kirkland ribeye without caps next to the ribeye cap steaks. A Costco employee explained that their outlet did this per corporate direction.
