While Kirkland ribeyes are premium cuts, there is one caveat for shoppers. Some of Kirkland's ribeyes may be missing a tasty, favorable portion known as the ribeye cap.
Ribeye steaks typically consist of the eye and the ribeye cap, a smaller section located at the crown of the steak, which is a desirable cut due to its high amount of marbling.
The post also shows an image of packaged Kirkland ribeye without caps next to the ribeye cap steaks. A Costco employee explained that their outlet did this per corporate direction.
Though they stopped doing this post-COVID, it may be a location-specific decision. Meanwhile, another person stated that their local Costco states "cap" or "no cap" on the label.
