Coney Island is home to a certain style of hot dog, often called the Coney Dog. It is almost like a chili dog, except it uses a very specific type of sauce.
A Coney dog is a frank on a steamed bun topped with a thin layer of ground beef sauce, called Coney sauce. It's mainly cooked with chopped onions, mustard, chili powder, and cumin.
Then there are lots of optional additions like garlic, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, or ketchup. Typically, the ground meat used to make a Coney dog is also much runnier.
