Sonoran dog is a rendition of the
hot dog enjoyed in the Southwest regions of the U.S. Created in Sonora, Mexico around the 1970s, it offers a composition unlike any other hot dog.
It's topped with Mexican condiments, like salsas, beans, crema, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, and cheese. The sausage comes wrapped in bacon, which is grilled to a seared state.
The bacon-wrapped sausage can come with many toppings, but several combinations are unique to this dish, including a combo of raw and cooked onions as well as pinto beans topping.
The whole creation comes in a fluffy and sweet bolillo-style roll. It's also usually topped with a trio of sauces: a jalapeño-based salsa, mayo, and yellow mustard.
