With a dense yet smooth and creamy texture that holds up well out of the freezer, Costco’s “Super Premium” vanilla ice cream boasts a fairly sweet and rich vanilla flavor.
Although Costco sells its vanilla ice cream with the iconic red, black, and white branding, the beloved product is actually supplied by Humboldt Creamery, located in California.
Founded in 1929 as an agricultural marketing cooperative, Humboldt Creamery has been making Costco's Kirkland Super Premium Vanilla Ice Cream since 2006.
The company, with a penchant for quality organic dairy, also provided the milk for the store’s food court ice cream bars until Costco discontinued the bars in 2013.
