Costco’s Kirkland canned tuna was introduced in the early 2000s when, as per CNN, Tim Rose, a former Costco executive decided to bring a better product to Costco customers.
In collaboration with Bumble Bee, the product underwent meticulous production monitoring in Puerto Rico, resulting in delicious and high-quality canned tuna.
In addition to the collaborative product, Costco also sells Bumble Bee’s premium canned albacore tuna, a unique variety that is larger than other varieties and is lighter in color.
Albacore tuna is perfect for lighter recipes — like a tuna salad — since it has a milder flavor, making it a great choice for those who don’t prefer a strong fishy flavor.
Kirkland’s albacore is a recommended choice for those seeking a more solid option, boasting fewer flakes and floating pieces while maintaining the promise of “superior quality.”
