Things You Should Never Put In Your Kitchen's Garbage Disposal

Grease/Oil

Grease or cooking oil will solidify as it goes down the garbage disposal, adhering to the inner walls of your pipes. This buildup restricts
water flow and leads to clogs.

Coffee Grounds

Coffee grounds don't break down in the garbage disposal; instead, they accumulate and form a dense, pasty sludge that can clog pipes and impede drainage.

Bones/Shells

Animal bones and seafood shells like shrimp are too hard for a garbage disposal to crush up. Trying to grind these items can break the blades and damage the motor.

Eggshells

The thin membrane lining an eggshell can cling onto the blades, jamming the motor. Also, the finely ground shell pieces don’t
dissolve and will create clogs.

Pasta/Rice

When exposed to water, these carbs swell and form a sticky paste that clings to the walls of your pipes. The noodles can also get tangled around disposal blades.
