These Bakery Items From Costco Aren't Made From Scratch

Apple Pie

While most of Costco’s pies are made completely from scratch in-house, employees on Reddit state that the apple pie comes to the bakery
frozen and is then cooked in-store.

Bagels

All of Costco’s bagels come frozen, which may be why the texture is reportedly doughy and bready. That said, they're perfectly fine, and the price is hard to beat.

Cakes

All Costco cakes are freshly baked, but they aren’t made from scratch. Bakers use a base mix for the cake, but the fillings, buttercream, and fudge icing are made in-house.

Cheesecake

Customers generally enjoy Costco's cheesecakes, so it may be a
surprise that the cheesecakes aren't completely made from scratch. Instead, the filling is made from a mix.

Cookies

Costco's bakery offers a variety of cookie options, but they all have one thing in common: they come frozen. Some locations even sell frozen cookies to customers in bulk.
