Cross a ham sandwich with a grilled cheese for the unexpectedly delicious culmination of two timeless favorites. To do so, simply add a layer of pimento cheese.

Popular in the Southern U.S, pimento is a sweet, mildly hot pepper from Spain. Combined with other key ingredients, it creates a creamy texture and sweet, smokey, spicy flavor.

Pimento cheese has a base of cream cheese and mayonnaise. Other fundamental ingredients include sharp cheddar cheese, chopped onion and garlic, and chopped pimento peppers.

To assemble your sandwich, grab two slices of your preferred bread, brush melted butter on one side of each, flip the slices over, and spread a plentiful amount of pimento cheese.

Top with as many slices of ham as you desire before closing the sandwich. Cook the sandwich in a large skillet on the stove until it's golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
