The Storage Tips For The Freshest Romaine Lettuce Possible

While romaine lettuce is a handy vegetable you can store in your fridge, it can wilt in just a couple of days. However, you can stretch that shelf life by regulating its moisture.
To store a whole head of romaine, wrap it in a paper towel, which will absorb excess water. Then, place the towel-wrapped lettuce in a perforated plastic bag.
This storage setup keeps your lettuce fresh for three weeks, maintaining a balance of moisture and airflow. It also helps to store lettuce in your refrigerator's crisper drawer.
If you buy pre-cut romaine, the first thing you should do is pick out any damaged, brown, or wilted leaves. Then, wash the lettuce and dry it using a salad spinner.
Ditch the plastic clamshell container or bag your lettuce came in, put it in a perforated bag instead, and store it in the crisper drawer. It should last up to two weeks.
