The Stinger: The Glitzy Cocktail Prohibition Almost Made
Us Forget

There are some things from the Prohibition era that ultimately did not stand the test of time. The once popular cocktail known as the Stinger is a perfect example of this.
The Stinger is made of brandy and crème de menthe, and was typically served as a digestif. It was made in the 1890s and peaked in popularity during the 1920s.
Millionaire Reginald Vanderbilt was known to love the drink so much that he would serve it to guests at his home, and many attribute the drink's fame to his habit of serving it.
The drink remained popular after Prohibition and even made a few appearances in famous films like "Kiss Them for Me," but it fell off in the 1950s, possibly due to its steep cost.
