If you're at a restaurant in France and are about to dive into a plate of salad, there's one etiquette you should be following all the time: do not cut the lettuce.
Whenever you need to cut a piece of lettuce, use your fork and knife to carefully fold the oversized leaf into a neat, bite-sized package. This will save you some embarrassment.
Typically, the French use a small piece of bread to scoop the salad onto their fork and stab the bread to soak up the vinaigrette. The French also eat salads after the main course.
