The Popular Brand Behind Trader Joe’s Hummus

One of the most popular Trader Joe’s products is its hummus, with the chain selling more than 4.4 million pounds of hummus every year across its 570-plus U.S. locations.

While Trader Joe’s offers many hummus varieties, all of them fall under their private label. However, the chain doesn’t produce the hummus itself; it works with co-packers instead.

As per MoneyWise, until a 2016 listeria outbreak prompted a recall, Bakkavor Foods, the largest prepared food provider in the U.K., was associated with some of Trader Joe’s hummus.

Currently, there’s good reason to suspect that Bakkavor is still making their Mediterranean hummus as it comes in a different container than the other hummus varieties.

According to Eater, the other varieties at Trader Joe’s, which include Roasted Red Pepper, Roasted Garlic, and Organic, are most likely made by the famous hummus brand ‘Tribe.’
