The Rusty Nail, a classic cocktail made from Scotch whisky and Drambuie, was allegedly beloved by Frank Sinatra and the rest of the so-called Rat Pack.
Cocktail expert Dale DeGroff said on Liquor.com, "Lore has it that the Rat Pack was enamored with the drink, which may have been responsible for the wide appeal in those years."
According to Dale DeGroff, a 2:1 ratio of Scotch to Drambuie is the classic recipe. Simply combine this in a cocktail shaker with ice and stir until chilled.
Serve the drink in a glass with ice and garnish with a citrus peel. There are also variations that substitute different spirits or add in additional ingredients.
