The Massive Mixed Berry Cheesecake At Costco With A Hefty Price Tag

NEWS

By ANN MEYER

Weighing 5 pounds, 10 ounces, Costco’s mixed berry cheesecake is back on the bakery shelves this summer after a hiatus and is one of the heftiest desserts offered by the chain.
Boasting a graham cracker crust, rich cheesecake filling, a layer of sour cream, and a jammy blend of cherries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries, the cake costs $22.99.
This is quite an increase from its 2018 price of $16.99, though the 2018 cake was 2 ounces lighter. Beyond the price tag, another con of the cake is that it's more sour than sweet.
The fruity cheesecake's sourness may allure some, but it can be hard to rationalize paying over $20 for a dessert — even if it is huge. However, the cake may just be hit-or-miss.
Many of Costco's other bakery treats tend to be cheaper, but compared to the chain’s $24, 4 ½-pound standard cheesecake, the mixed berry version is indeed a more flavorful bargain.
The standard one comes pre-sliced into 16 servings, but you can get more slices from the berry version — all while saving a buck and getting over an extra pound of creamy goodness.
