In 2023, Walmart earned about $421.8 billion in the U.S. and $611.3 billion globally, while the second biggest earner, Costco, earned just $173.5 billion from the U.S. customers.
This means there's a $248.3 billion difference between the two chains. Amazingly, Walmart's grocery sales alone was over $240 billion in 2023 — way above Costco's entire sales.
Today, Walmart has 4,606 locations across America. The company's President and CEO John Furner has also announced plans to build or upgrade over 150 stores and remodel another 650.
