The Ideal Temperature For The Best Oven-Baked Potato Chips

With just russet potatoes, an oven, and an hour, you can trade store-bought chips for homemade ones that can taste delicious with customized seasonings.
Simply slice your potatoes thinly, season them, and then bake them in the oven for 10 to 20 minutes until golden brown. You'll get the best results between 375 to 450 F.
However, the temperature will depend on the thickness of the potatoes and your oven’s model. Start at around 400 F, and based on how the chips turn out, adjust for the next batch.
To avoid premature burning, make sure you don’t set the temperature too high. Additionally, soak the potatoes for at least 30 minutes before you put them into the oven.
Another reason they burn is because they’re in the oven for too long; keep an eye on them as they bake, and check them at the 10-minute mark and every three minutes thereafter.
If you’re dealing with soggy chips, try a higher temperature setting, between 450 to 480 F. Also, make sure you dry the soaked potatoes before baking, and don’t overuse cooking oil.
