In the first fiscal quarter of 2024, Costco reached $57.39 billion in sales, an increase of 9.1% from the previous year. A big contributor to this increase is its meat department.
Costco President and CEO Ron Vachris praised the meat department's performance, highlighting prized products like wagyu beef and chicken breast.
While he didn't go into the fine details of how much money the department is bringing to the table, he did speak to its overall growth and the products driving it.
The wholesaler's meat department is clearly doing well, thanks to its varied offerings, which include boneless and skinless chicken breasts, thighs, drumsticks, and wings.
Members can even opt for air-chilled chicken, which involves water-free processing for improved flavor and texture.
Costco also carries quality red meat products like USDA Choice and USDA Prime beef, the latter being the highest grade of the eight that the USDA issues.
