Out of all the different ways to prevent an air fryer from smoking, using an oil with a high smoke point is the best, as it doesn't force you to compromise on crispiness.
A smoking air fryer signals that fat is burning, which often happens when grease from food drips down. Oils that can't handle high temperatures are more prone to burning.
Consider using avocado oil or refined light olive oil. Both have high smoke points of 520 degrees F and 465 degrees F respectively, and have fairly neutral flavors.
