Distilled water is regular water that has been purified and ridden of impurities like minerals, salts, bacteria, and other contaminants through a process called distillation.
To distill your own water, you have to boil water while collecting the resulting steam, which will eventually condense and become distilled water. The process is pretty simple.
Fill a big pot with tap water and place a smaller, heat-safe bowl inside without letting it touch the water. Place the pot’s lid upside down over the pot and put ice in it.
As the water boils, steam rises and meets the cold lid, condensing then dripping into the smaller bowl. The bowl will be filled with about a cup of distilled water every half hour or so.
