It’s widely acknowledged that olive oil is an indispensable culinary tool and while many countries produce millions of tons of it every year, Spain notably surpasses them all.

Although Greece consumes more olive oil than any other country, Spain produced over 5.9 million tons of it in 2023, more than double the amount Italy produced in second place.

In fact, Andalusia, a region in southern Spain, produces more olive oil than anywhere else on the planet. Spanish olive oil has a brighter yellow hue as well as a fruitier taste.
