The Common Kitchen Tool Used To Make Your Own Matcha Powder

You'll typically find matcha sold already pulverized, but if you want to extend the tea's shelf life and preserve its flavor, you can grind your own matcha with a coffee grinder.
A classic blade model will make drinkable matcha, but for enhanced textural consistency, the burr design is better. For an extra-fine texture, reach for a model built for espresso.
Simply keep shelf-stable tencha at home, then grind the leaves right before using the matcha to ensure freshness. However, this method does come with its own difficulties.
Matcha grinding is a delicate process, and any heat generated can deteriorate the plant's flavors. For this reason, it’s best to use a manual grinder rather than an electric one.
