Bread bag clips come in various colors. The plastic tags are part of a color-coding system used by bakeries to keep tabs on when bread and other baked goods are made.
The colored plastic clips serve as a system for bakeries to mark production and delivery schedules, aiding in quality control and shelf management.
However, there is not an industry-wide standard for color-coding bread bags; some grocery stores use them for different reasons, which can lead to shopper confusion.
Snopes says a common code is: blue for Monday, green for Tuesday, red for Thursday, white for Friday, and yellow for Saturday, while Wednesday and Sunday are no-delivery days.
