Fred Meyer, a subsidiary of The Kroger Company, offers a 10% discount to those 55 and older. It's available on select items on the first Tuesday of each month.
Seniors can find a large variety of natural, frozen, and organic foods, as well as usual staples for their pantries. Items from the Home and Electronics department are also included.
In contrast, at Hy-Vee's Norfolk #2 store in Nebraska, the senior discount starts at age 65 and takes 3% off your entire order if you shop on Tuesdays.
You can take advantage of Harris Teeter's 5% senior discount by signing up online for a free VIC card, which will make you a part of the store's Club 60.
This entitles you to a 5% discount on Thursdays if you're 60 and over. The discount applies to everything at Harris Teeter except for fuel, gift cards, tickets, and pharmacy items.
Weis Markets offers a 10% senior discount on a select number of Weis-branded products. To get it, you must first sign up for free for your Weis Rewards Card.
If you're 60 and older, come in on Tuesdays, go to the customer service desk, and let them scan your ID and Weis Rewards Card to apply the discount to your card.
However, the upside is that the 10% senior discount applies to most of the products you'll find here, whether you buy them in the store or just swing by to pick them up.
