Gordon Ramsay is known for his refined takes on French and British cuisine, but when it comes to food destinations, he prefers cuisine from Laos, Vietnam, and Spain.
In a 2023 interview with Korean food YouTuber Seungyon Cho, Gordon Ramsay surprisingly named Laos as his favorite food destination, describing it as "off the charts."
He learned to love padek, a fermented fish product that adds a kick to soups and stews, and even "toe-biters," a water bug that tastes like lobster and crab.
Ramsay then added that Vietnam was his next favorite food destination. He describes the country of 100 million people as an "extraordinary melting pot of good food."
Highlights from filming in Vietnam for his 2010 series "Gordon's Great Escape" include hu tieu, a pork and seafood soup, which he learned to prepare in the Mekong Delta.
His final food destination is Madrid, Spain, with regional specialties like Galician-style octopus and rabo de toro, an oxtail stew from Cordoba in the south.
Ramsay is a bit more coy about his love for Madrid, having not filmed there for his various TV series — although he has declared Spanish cuisine as arguably better than Italian.
