To spice up your ketchup, try adding curry powder, a popular Indian seasoning mix consisting of spices such as turmeric, coriander, cumin, cloves, ginger, and cinnamon.
Curry ketchup has its roots in 1950s Germany, where it was sold on sausages to make a dish called currywurst. Even today, it is an iconic dish in Germany.
Don’t simply pour curry powder into ketchup, as uncooked curry powder will taste raw and give your ketchup a grainy texture. Instead, sauté
your curry powder in butter first.
Another approach calls for making the ketchup from a tomato puree, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce base, simmering, and then adding in the curry seasonings to finish.
