just edged out by Culver's Butterburger, as the smash patty is topped with a pat of butter that makes it rich, moist, and garlicky.

Both Shake Shack and Culvers have burgers with two patties, American cheese, and crispy bacon: the Bacon Cheeseburger and The Culver's Bacon Deluxe, respectively.
Here, the Shake Shack bacon cheeseburger is the standout. The bacon is crunchy and applewood-smoked, while Culver's bacon is somewhat limp and relies on its toppings.
