Season Steaks Perfectly With A Classic Pantry Staple

Given the investment of time and grocery dollars in a steak, a seasoning disaster can be quite costly. To avoid any disappointments, consider seasoning steaks with onion soup mix.
The onion soup mix is a blend of both onions and onion powder, sugar, soy sauce, and salt. The alliums and soy bring umami, while the sugar and
salt boost the flavors of the beef.
If you love country-style steak, you can use this mix to make a complementary gravy. Simply cook a packet with about a tablespoon of flour and two cups of water for a creamy sauce.
Alternatively, you can create a glaze. Simmer a packet along with a cup of water and two tablespoons of vinegar for a few minutes until it has reduced and thickened a bit.
If you prefer to keep it simple, you can rub the steak with some olive oil and sprinkle the soup mix package over about 1 ½ pounds of steak, just as you would any seasoning blend.
